44rd INTER COLLEGIATE QUIZ COMPETITION

We are pleased to inform you that the Lions Club of Central Madras has been conducting many community service projects for the welfare of the needy and talent promotion projects for the students of city colleges and schools every year for the past 41 years since our charter in 1971.

Our Second Educational Project for the current Lionistic year is the 43rd INTER COLLEGIATE QUIZ COMPETITION, the details of which are given below.

Day & Date: Saturday, 10th January 2015

Theme of the Quiz: General

Registration & Tea: 3.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.
Preliminary Competition: 3.30 p.m. to 4.00 p.m.
Meeting & Quiz Competition: 4.00 p.m.

Awards: MJF Lion Dr. C. V. Ananthasayanam Trophy to the College winning First Place & Silver Medal.

MJF Lion G. Srinivasan Trophy to the College Winning Second Place & Silver Medal.

MJF Lion K. Jayaraman Commendation Trophy to the College Winning Third Place.

Certificates will be issued to all participants.

Justice P. Venugopal Memorial Cash prizes of Rs. 3000, Rs. 2000 & Rs. 1000 for the First, Second and Third Place Teams.

Consolation Prize of Rs. 250 to each finalist.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

We would request you to send a Team of Two Students to participate in the above competition.

This will be a General Quiz Competition.

Please intimate the names of the participants in the enclosed Registration Form on or before 10th December 2013.

Greetings from Lions Club of Central Madras,

Sub - Request to depute students for the 43rd. year inter college ORATORICAL COMPETITION

Lions Club of Central Madras, Chartered on 9.8.1971, is conducting many service projects on Health care, Eye care, Diabetes Care, School infra structure needs, for the needy and under privileged. From the day one of its charter..

we also conduct programs for the students to enhance their talents in general knowledge , current affairs , political , science and economics to exhibit their talent in Quiz and Oratorical Competitions year after year.

Now, we are heading towards 43rd. year of Oratorical competition to continue our services with more zeal and interest.

AWARDS:

Winner up college will be presented with Lion G.V.Raman Trophy , and the student will be awarded with silver medal and certificate.

Runner Up college will be presented with Lion K.Anantha Chari Trophy , and the student will be awarded with silver medal and certificate.

Lion K.Jayaraman Commendation Trophy will be presnted for third place.

Certificate for all participating students as a token of Appreciation.

The Preliminary Rounds will be held on Saturday, the 26th October 2013.

Venue: Meenakshi College for Women, Arcot Road, Kodambakkam, Chennai, 600024.

Program:

Tea & Registrations: 2.00 PM to 2. 30 PM

Selection of Topics By Lot: 2.35 PM to 2.45 PM.

Introduction of the Program: 2.50 PM to 3.00PM.

Selection for the order of the speaking by lot. 3.05 pm.

Oratorical Competition: 3.10 PM to 5.30 PM.

The result will be announced at 6.00 PM on 26th October ,for selected student to participate in the oratorical competition finales , and the finals will be On Monday 28th. October, 2013.

The finals will be the dinner meeting. The venue will be announced on 26th October.

All participants must bring Bona fide I.D. Card and signed registration slip duly signed by the Authorized person from their respective colleges.

TIME: Each participant will be given five (5) minutes to put forward his/her points.

Entry to the Finals: The first Six (6) Students will be selected for the Finals by a Three Member Judges Team..

THE DECISION OF THE JUDGES ARE FINAL.

PMJF Lion N.S. Sankar , past District Governor , consented be the guest of honor and one of the eminent Judge for oratorical competition final event.

First regular meeting for May 2012.Induction of New members

We will be welcoming our New Members on Wednesday, the 16th. May 2012.

The most relevant project to lions all over the world is scheduled on Friday the First June 2012.

The event will commence with High Tea from 5.20.pm.
Mr. Mike Nithavrianakis, Deputy High Commissioner, British Deputy High Commission, Chennai will be the Chief Guest and present the awards.
Recipients are from Western India, Eastern India, South India.

Projects to Commemorate Governor's Annual Visit.

Our prestigious project International Women's Day will be held on 10.3.12 at Chrompet.
ON that occasion we will be honouring Dr. T.S. Kanaka, the first woman Neurosurgeon in Asia.
Our District Governor Lion. N. Rajasekar will be the chief Guest and honour the Great Surgeon.
Please attend in large numbers.
We will also conduct a Diabetes Awareness & Detection Camp also on that day. from 10.00.AM.

Lions Club of Central Madras is conducting their 41st. Inter Collegiate Oratorical Competition.The Preliminary round will be held on 8.12.11. from 2.30. pm at Meenakshi College for Women, Arcot Road, Kodambakkam, Chennai 600024. Snacks & Tea will be provided. Certificate of Appreciation &Participation will be given to all. Six students will be selected for the Final Competition to be held on 11.12.11. from 7.00pm at the Institution of Engineers' Auditorium, Swamy Sivananda Salai, Chennai. (Near Doordharshan)

This will be a Dinner meeting.

Blood Donation Camp on 29.10.10 at Two Campuses of Madras University.

1. Guindy campus at Gandhi Mandapam road, Kotturpuram.
2. I.B.M.S. campus Taramani.

Both camps start at 9.30.am.
Mr. Thiruvasagam, Vice Chancellor Madras University inaugurates the guindy camp.


World Sight Day October 2010.

Lions club of central madras is observing world sight day from the year 2002. by conducting a week long /fortnight long sight first projects.

This year we conducted projects from 3.10. 10. To 14.10.10., 4 cataract screening camps, awareness meeting on the need, necessity and usefulness of eye donation, on 8.10.10.a thought provoking speech by Dr. K. Anandakannan, former vice chancellor of T.N. MGR Medical University and a cornea surgeon to the students teaching and non teaching staff of central polytechnic college taramani, Chennai 600113 and releasing awareness hand bills and wall hangers on the dos don'ts and the telephone numbers of the eye banks.

On 14.10.10., in association with g.s. hospital a diabetic retinopathy screening camp was conducted at adyar, Chennai 600020.

A full fledged screening team from rural Tele-ophthalmology dept. conducted the screening camp.

77 persons were screened and found:
Mild npdr. 03.
Moderate npdr. 01.
Oct: 04.
Yag caps: 01.
Glaucoma: 02.
Cataract: 22.
Spectacles: 02.
Person’s required comprehensive examination referred to Sankara Nethralaya.

Lions club of central madras sincerely thanks entire staff of G.S. hospital headed by lion. Dr. Aravinth reddy and Sankara Nethralaya rural Tele-ophthalmology dept. headed by Dr. Sheila John.

40th year inter collegiate oratorical competition.

Lions club of central madras, chartered on 9.8.1971, is conducting many service projects to the needy and under privileged.

Also, we conduct programs for the students to enhance their talents in the general knowledge by conducting quiz and oratorical competitions year after year.

This 40th year not only an exception, but it is a special one in the history of our club.

Awards:
Rolling silver cups for winner and runner up colleges.
Silver medal and certificate of appreciation for the winner and runner up students
Certificate of appreciation and participation for all participants.

This year we will be having this competition on October, 23.10.10. Saturday, preliminary round , at Meenakshi College For Women, Arcot road, Chennai 600024

Tea and registration: from 2.00pm to 2.30.pm.
Selection of topics, by lot:2.35.to 2.45pm.
Introduction to the program 2.50pm 3.00pm.
Selection for the order of speaking. 3.05pm.
Competition 3.05pm.-5.05pm. And on 25.10.10. We will have finals.
This will be dinner meeting along with the celebrations of U.N. day.

No. Of participants: two students from each college will be allowed.
